Actually the idea that “being on testosterone/not being on estrogen” (or less frequently “not being on testosterone” and almost never “being on estrogen”) has some kind of bearing on a person’s gender presentation is oddly persistent on here and not something I’m a fan of. Testosterone is not a magic butch chemical, you can perform masculinity in an estrogen-dominant body and femininity in a testosterone-dominant body, without one needing to necessarily contradict the other. I understand that for a lot of people going on testosterone or not going on estrogen IS an act of gender non-conformity, but also don’t act like it automatically negates your ability to have a body that “looks like a twink” (which also isn’t the end of the world. What does “twink” even mean in a context like this?)

When it comes to the “trans positivity post” genre on here, posts about trans guys who are no-T seem to center around femininity and ones about trans girls who are no-E seem to center around masculinity (“butchness”), which I think is reductive at best. Idk I feel like even people who are behind “weird and fucked up genders” as this website will put it still can’t REALLY conceive of “weird and fucked up genders” beyond their own comprehension. Anyone who goes on T is masc, anyone who goes on E is fem, which means not going on T makes you fem and not going on E makes you masc. Pronouns don’t equal gender, but also all he/him lesbians are butch, any cafab nonbinary lesbian (or otherwise) who goes on T/gets top surgery is butch, and nonbinary femmes (do they even exist?) don’t go on T or get ftm top surgery. Again, I understand that for some people that IS how it goes, but I don’t like how often it’s treated like a rule. Twinks can be on T, femmes can get ftm top surgery, butches can be on prog. Ultimately, a testosterone-dominant body is just a body and an estrogen-dominant body is just a body, and it’s up to the person the body belongs to to decide how to present it, because gender is fake. My earliest transgender urges were “I wish could be feminine the way men are”, and I’m DEFINITELY not the only one who feels that LMAO. Sometimes you need to get more fem so you can get more masc. It happens!
